After talking to Sam Demma, the creator of Pick Waste, I wanted continue his legacy. Every Wednesday from the middle of June to the end of August, a group of us would go around town picking up garbage. Every week had a different route. In the end, our biggest turn up was about 20 people. We promoted our event to everyone and provided everyone with free gloves, garbage bags, and treats at the end.
Our local 7 Eleven even gave us treats for our work. At the end we probably collected over 50 bags of trash. For items that were extremely heavy, we would contact the municipal government to come pick it up.
Pick Waste was also a great way to meet new people and leave a positive impact while having a fun time!
