I ran this event through Yes Theory BC. The idea was initially proposed to my vice-principal from high school. Healthcare workers have been working around the clock to keep people safe throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. We wanted to create an event that would represent the appreciation of their hard work.
Cindy said the best way to help ease the stress off their workers is if the vaccine numbers in our area were increased. Thus, Yes Theory BC took the challenge. We worked with Northern Health to set up an event to promote vaccines in a fun way. The original plan was to have a fun music festival with food and other smaller shops. Unfortunately, due to increased cases in COVID, we were unable to do a lot of the exciting stuff we planned. But the experience in communicating with different vendors, artists, and health officials was great.
In the end, we decided to house the event at our local high school. There we had cookies, pizza, and a vaccine station set up. The event was overall a success. I am devastated that our original plan did not follow through, but it was an honour to work with Northern Health no matter what!
